Step2 toy buggies removed in safety risk

Two types of ride-on toy buggies have been withdrawn from sale in UK stores after their manufacturer said they posed a risk of injury to children.
"Push Around" and "Whisper Ride" buggies, sold by Mothercare and Early Learning Centres, have been removed after the manufacturer issued a recall.
US firm Step2 said there was a risk the pushing handle could become detached.
Parents who have already bought the toys are being urged to contact Step 2 so they can be sent a free repair kit.
The firm said no injuries had been reported in the UK, but there had been 28 incidents worldwide.
Safety 'highest priority'
Two of the cases required medical treatment, the others resulted in minor scrapes and scratches.
In a statement, the firm said if the handle became detached, it "posed a serious risk of injury to young children."
"Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed and contact Step2 for a free repair kit," it added.
A spokeswoman for Mothercare and the Early Learning Centre said it had decided to remove the toy buggies from sale "pending further information from Step2".
"At Mothercare and Early Learning Centre product safety is our highest priority and this action has been taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our customers," she said.
Both buggies are ride-on toys that come in a variety of colours and have a red Step2 logo on the handle.
The safety concerns do not apply to the newer design of the buggies on which the handle attaches with a bolt and screw.
