Welcome to Springhill Primary School and Sure Start Children Centre.

Springhill Primary School has been working with Burntwood Community and Learning
Partnership since 2007 to deliver Children's Centre and Extended School activities.

Springhill Primary School pride themselves on being able to offer children outstanding levels of care, guidance and support. This includes giving children access to 'Art Therapy', 'Time for
Talk' and a curriculum that aims to develop children's self-esteem and social skills. Much of this work has been funded and supported through Burntwood Community and Learning
Partnership.

Working with community partners such as Progressive Sports, Springy Tots, Forward Action Burntwood, Family Learning, Parent Partnership and a variety of external agencies the school is able to promote a broad range of services to both children and parents.

The addition of the Sure Start Children's Centre facilities in September 2008 has enabled
local families with children under five years of age to access activities in a purpose built
facility right in the heart of their community. Through multiagency working with Health
Visitors, Midwives, School Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals, families should be able to find out about how to access a service that meets their needs. Whether it be a Child Health Clinic, Breast Feeding Support Group, Young Parents Group, baby massage or somebody to chat to if you are unsure what support you might need, just pop into the Children's Centre (entrance to the right of the school as you go through the main school gate).

On a Friday the Children's Centre is alive with 'Springy Tots' a Parent and Toddler Group for
anyone to join with a pre-school child for fun, chat and activities. Little Stars is also a Parent
and Toddler Group available for families with a child that may have a development delay. This is an opportunity for you to attend an informal drop-in to enjoy chat and play with other parents or carers and pre-school children.  'Small Talk' offers a language and communication session for pre-school children, it's a fun way to stimulate children's language development. Using games, music and stories practitioners can work on everything a child needs to be a successful communicator. Friday sees 'Midday Mayhem' a group for young parents under
20 years of age and their children to take part in activities and chat with other young parents.

Bob Cadman, head teacher of Springhill Primary School is delighted to be working with Burntwood Community and Learning Partnership 'the funding for Extended Services in school
and the partnership working with other organisations through the Children's Centre can only
enhance what we as a school can offer the families within this community.'

Children within school are able to take part in a 'varied menu of activities' outside of the school
curriculum such as 'multi-sports' or family learning sessions. Julia Baddeley, a 'Parent
Support Worker' is available at regular school events to chat to parents and assist with any issues
parents may have with any aspect
of parenting a child aged 5 to 11
years. Julia is available on
01543 510458.

Springhill Sure Start Children's
Centre is one of four sites offering
