Top Tips for new Mums

Looking fabulous when you are a new mum can sometimes feel like an impossibility but there are some time-saving tips that can easily be slotted into your hectic daily routine.
Lisa Shepherd, described by many as the 'hair colour doctor' and resident expert of Channel 4's 10 Years Younger, gives her top tips for looking great after your baby is born. These are tried and tested too as Lisa was recently a new mum herself.
1 Make the 'first trip out' after your baby is born to your hairdresser – believe me just to get your hair blow dried is a God send.
2 If you're brave enough opt for a slightly new cut or colour. After I had my new baby I added in a fringe and lifted through some layers so my hair was just easy and looked good
even when up in a pony tail which again is an essential time-saver after those early morning feeds.
3 Soft eye skimming fringes work really well around tired eyes and pretty lightweight shades of blonde or caramel are just kinder to tired skin. If you're brunette or dark then just lighten up a shade or so and it will make a huge difference and mostly just soften your whole appearance.
4 If you do decide a change in colour is for you opt for low maintenance colour. Tone down your blonde a bit or add in a few different shades to just make your roots less noticeable. I'm not saying become boring or mumsy – but just by adding different shades you extend your re-do time by around another four weeks which is essential when you have a new baby. This is really apparent for women that have full on blonde colour as you would normally be in the salon around every four weeks which just isn't practical for any new mum.
5 Finally, treat yourself to either an in-salon ritual which includes lovely head massages etc. None of these takes longer than about 30 minutes but will make you feel like you've at least had a little stress-free and quiet time or if all else fails at least buy the very best luxury hair mask you can afford and make sure you use this when you manage to get a bath.
