The perfect prom hair

With the school prom season almost upon us, Emma Steven director of the Lisa Shepherd
Salon in Sutton Coldfield and art director Zoe Haynes, give their top tips for creating beautiful styles for the special day.
Most girls opt for some sort of up-do for their prom, and to ensure that this is as easy to create as possible wash your hair the day before. When your hair is freshly washed it
is harder to sculpt into place as it is soft and can be more fly-away.
Talk to your stylist about what dress you will be wearing on the night so that they can suggest the most flattering styles, and make sure if you are going for more of statement dress, you keep your hair simple and chic.
If you are creating your own style at home, one great tip is to start by pre-setting your hair by
using curling irons, as this will give hair texture. Then to add volume back comb your hair using a back combing brush and spray with hairspray – Clynol Move Hairspray is great for this as it gives maximum hold ensuring every hair stays in place.
Don't be afraid to use accessories too. Prom night is the perfect excuse to add a bit of sparkle. There are lots of great accessories out there such as grips, fascinators or feathers which can really add an extra wow factor. If you are undecided on what look to go for, take a look at some celeb magazines. The stars are always trying out new styles so let them be your guinea pig.
Finally, a classic look though which suits the majority of people is the ballerina bun. This is a
simple, elegant look and perfect for the prom.
