School in Focus Little Sutton Primary

Little Sutton Primary School is a thriving two-form entry school in Sutton Coldfield. The school offers a warm, welcoming environment with excellent learning opportunities, high quality resources and superb outdoor facilities.

At Little Sutton, we pride ourselves on being a happy, caring and  successful school where children experience a rich, exciting curriculum and really enjoy learning. Above all else we want children to feel that they can succeed, and they do.

"A first-rate curriculum that is rich and exciting contributes significantly to pupils' sheer enjoyment in learning and excellent personal development." OFSTED 2008.

We are a forward thinking school and are continually striving for excellence to provide the best possible education for the children in our care.  Our high standards and expectations are met through first-rate teaching and learning. Children make excellent progress, which is illustrated in the impressive results achieved.

"The outstanding curriculum is underpinned by a constant drive for improvement and concern to get the best out of each individual. "OFSTED 2008.

Our children become well rounded and confident through the wealth of opportunities and experiences which are on offer. French is taught from Reception and in the upper juniors children learn French and Spanish. There is also a wide range of lunchtime and after school clubs for them to choose from.

"Pupils have outstanding personal development and leave the school as very confident, highly articulate, very well-mannered and sensible young people." OFSTED 2008.

Music is a strength of the school with opportunities to play a range of musical instruments and join an enthusiastic school choir and orchestra.

Little Sutton Primary School has outstanding ICT facilities, to ensure pupils are equipped with the skills they will need to meet the demands of the twenty first century. Children use computers confidently to help them learn. There is a computer suite along with interactive whiteboards, laptops and computers in every classroom.

Children in Year 6 take part in video conferencing with children at secondary schools to find out what life will be like when they transfer.  Recently, we were delighted to receive an award from the Local Education Authority for Innovation in ICT.

The strong sense of respect and care that the children and staff have for one another is clearly evident.

"Pastoral care positively supports pupils in building super relationships with one another in atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. The excellent attention given by all staff to nurturing and valuing pupils' individual qualities is clearly reflected in their exemplary behaviour, high-level awareness of how to keep healthy is outstanding, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development."  OFSTED 2008.

Parents are partners with the school in their child's education. Regular workshops take place which provide parents with information on how they can best support their children at home.
