Ridgeway Community Room

A warm welcome to `Ridgeway Community Room` which is part of a development of Sure Start Children's Centres across Burntwood.

Burntwood Community and Learning Partnership is delighted to be working with Ridgeway Primary School to deliver activities and services to under fives and their families.

The community room on the site of Ridgeway Primary School opens its doors to the community on a weekly basis to provide a place for families to go right here in their neighbourhood, to get involved in lots of fun activities!

Angela Dobson, Coordinator of Burntwood Community and Learning Partnership says;

"The head teacher and staff have been extremely supportive and proactive in getting activities up and running and the school now offers a range of opportunities, supported with funding from Burntwood Community and Learning Partnership, for children from 0-5 years with their families".

Quote from a parent;

"The new centres are a fantastic way to meet people and get out of the house with a new baby. We go to `Signtime`, `Rhymetime`, `Baby Story Play` and it's great because there is now an evening clinic run by Health Visitors at Springhill Children's Centre which means that daddy can come to baby weigh ins. I really don't know how we fit it all in!"

Quote from Jo Jelves  Headteacher at Ridgeway primary school.

"At Ridgeway Primary School we have recently benefited from the addition of a community room which enables us to provide a variety of activities to meet both the Children's Centre agenda and the Government core offer for Extended Services.

The Extended Schools agenda is a high priority for Ridgeway Primary School.  Through our new community room we are now able to provide a seamless service of provision from birth through to 11 years; from our Little Sunshines' Parent & Toddler Group & Rainbow Tots' 2's Group to Ridgeway Sunbeams Nursery and the Primary School.

We are keen to promote the community room as a pivotal point in the community which is accessible to all families in Burntwood to ensure that every child gets the best start in life. We are extremely grateful to the Burntwood Community & Learning Partnership for all the help and support they have given us in establishing the activities that we are able to provide through the community room and hope that local families will enjoy using them."

Ridgeway Primary School and the Community Learning Partnership have worked hard to ensure that the community room is made good use of and have many activities on offer.
