Let’s get physical
Let's face it, there are some people out there who are just not five-times a week to the gym health freaks. Claire and I well and truly fit into this category, or should I say did. On our long journey into health and fitness, we have adopted the Tortoise and the Hare theory; no, not just eating lettuce, but the theory that a small commitment to exercise on a regular basis is better than no commitment at all.
Claire and I have tried most diets, from cabbage soup to blood tests to slimming clubs. We've also dabbled in fitness, from Gym membership to Yoga classes. We've never managed to stick to them for long. We do see results but then seem to give
up and find it unsustainable.
All that changed when we started training with Hyde, last October. Initially we found it hard work, especially the running. But with determination and lots of encouragement from Hyde we started to see great improvements in both fitness and body shape.
Hyde gave us advice on nutrition and healthy eating as well as explaining how we should eat and at what times of the day to stimulate weight loss.
From the very start of this whole thing, I have lost just over one and a half stone. It's been slow and steady but I feel so much better and actually feel I now know how to keep in shape. Claire and I have even started running three miles, three times a week, something I would never dreamed of doing before.
I've also lost 14cm from my hips and 18cm from my waist.
Don't get me wrong it hasn't been easy, but what is when it comes to losing weight. All I can say is I really enjoy the sessions, something I never thought I would say. Training with Claire certainly makes the hour go a lot faster and I would recommend training with a friend to anyone. It keeps you motivated and you can spur each other on.
We still have a way to go until we reach our fitness goal. We are looking to enter a half marathon in October and with Hyde's continued encouragement and support I know we can do it.
