Footymums Kicks Off!

A new website launched this Autumn for mums with football mad kids.

Around 5,000,000 children play football on a regular basis. Many at school and many at one of the 9,000 grass roots youth clubs around the country.

Footymums.com provides information on the basics of the game, how to get involved, how to support a junior footballer, suggestions for fund raising and much more.

The website was founded by Bron Moss, who lives and works in the West Midlands, and has spent her weekends for the last seven years at junior football games!

Bron told Family Time that 'Being a footy mum is brilliant fun. It can also bring many other emotions from high excitement to extreme frustration!

'We feel that mums are often on the periphery of football in the family; our site aims to help mums help children get more out of their football. You could have up to 10 years of being a 'junior' footy mum, so you may as well embrace it and enjoy it! The footy mums' community is like no other – and it is highly underrated. Footymums.com has a forum and blog and we want to hear mums' questions, suggestions, outrages, ideas – the lot!

'We are also planning to support the FA Respect campaign in a big way. Mums have a huge part to play here and I, for one, have witnessed parental abuse of children as young as eight at so called 'kids football' matches. With more mums taking an active role in junior football, such issues can hopefully move up the agenda, enabling more children to enjoy their football in a safe, supportive environment.'

'At the very least, mums with boys and girls interested in football will hopefully sign up to www.footymums.com and register for our monthly e.newsletter, which will have ideas for football themed activities, presents and reminders about key dates in the football calendar for footy dads too!'
